(This is both an RP sample and OC meeting of Edwyn and Alexiel.)

Reference:

The place sat on a short street in Rustleburg, tucked away behind a faded façade and a paint-chipped sign with the bar name in scrawling, Romanesque type face that looked like it would have fit better in a museum rather than it's counterpart in reality. Despite being a pub, it looked like more of a run-down building- a wooden bench lined the length of the establishment, broken only when it connected with the bar counter, directly adjacent to the entryway, and again broken only when it came into contact with the front door. The bench was of wood, and scattered along its length were tables, many of which, at this hour, were occupied, they still held the glasses and emptied mugs from the crew of men who inhabited the tavern, of which several patrons were about the bar at various levels of intoxication.

Sitting in his 'Noble' attire, Alexiel had his hood up, currently sitting in a chair with his feet propped up upon a wooden table in the corner of the room, several lanterns and windows providing illumination. His arms crossed over his chest, he waited for anyone to either bug him or give him something to do. His sword was currently at his left hip, secured with a fastener requiring great strength to be applied with one's thumb.

Edwyn slowly opens the door, eying the man suspiciously. Few outsiders ever came to Rustleburg.  They were usually traders, or wandering knights. This man looked different...not just from the usual crowd, but different than...humanity. He walked up to the bar and took a seat, a good 7 paces from the strange man.

Alexiel was alerted to the opening of the tavern's door by his hearing. The vampire found it interesting to see what new person had joined the ranks of soon-to-be-intoxicated bar patrons. Every once and a while he found a  nice person... or a nice meal. Anyway, Alexiel's eye cracked open, the blue pupil raising to observe the details of the newcomer.

His sight fell upon blue eyes, dirty blond hair, and a rather tall man. His eye focused on the cross around the man's neck then back up at his face as the white-tunic-clad man (With dem brown trousers) took a seat at the bar, the Vampire remaining perfectly still..

Edwyn noticed that the man was looking at him in a sort of half-gaze. No, defiantly not from around here, he thought. He grabbed a small pouch from his bag and opened it, revealing a dozen small, gold coins. He called the barkeep over to him.
"What can I get ye today Eddin"? he asked
"Just a glass of Nog" he replied
He lounged back on his seat, tightening his neck straps.

Alexiel's gaze lowered to the man's pouch for but a second, then lazily lifted back to the man's face. The vampire was intrigued by this person, as he seemed rather aware of his presence. Yawning, the vampire merely continued his gaze at the man, waiting.

Edwyn couldn't take much more of the odd gaze. Was it him, or did one of his eyes appear to be red? Taking one last gulp of his nog, he said "Doth thou need anythin'?

Alexiel blinked. "Why do you ask?" The vampire had to resist a smile forming upon his lips, as that would reveal his fangs. That could be bad.

Edwyn shifted in his seat. "I couldn't help but notice...you've been staring at me for the last minuet. In this town. a stray stare may earn thee a proper beating, especially from the brutes over there."
I gesture to a group of men at the far table.

Alexiel's open eye blinked. "I find you intriguing." There seemed to be a certain... purity about this man. The vampire scoffed. "Please, as if I care about such a thing." Alexiel could really use a barfight right now. It'd be a great chance to let off some steam.

Maybe even add a dramatic death or two.

(Bolded words is what Alexiel says, Italics are thought, by the way.)

Edwyn didn't really know how to react to the situation. He ran trough several scenarios in him mind about what he could say that would get the man to go away, but nothing seemed to work. Perhaps if he just ignored him, he would loose interest. He rubbed his necklace, hoping for luck.
He turned his head, sipping the last of his drink as fast as he could, although the sweet liquor could make him sick if he drank it to quickly.

Alexiel peered at the man quickly downing his drink with a slightly heightened interest, as a small grin passed his lips. "Are you nervous?" The vampire peered at the man, eager to see how he could mentally unravel him.

Before he could answer, Aenhald the Woodcutter abruptly entered the shabby inn and quickly made his was to the bar for a drink. Hoping that if he simply ignored the man for a little while longer, he would just go away, he stated a conversation with the man. He was typically not pleasant to talk to, but alcohol usually lightened his spirits, and he'd talk to just about anyone besides the man sitting across from him.
They briefly exchanged greetings, and the conversation quickly turned to the growing wolf problem facing the nearby towns.
"Oh yes," he said, "Why, only two days ago a farmer from yon Eugald's Crossing was attacked by a pack of them. Thou must not stray from thyne house after dark friend, I certainly do not.,"
Edwyn nodded. He quickly glanced back at the other man, who was continuing to stare at him.

Alexiel huffed, he was willing to let this man slide, at least for now, he could start a conversation later. The vampire shifted his gaze to the other patrons of the bar, studying them. The human desire to get to such a level of intoxication was quite interesting.

"No thanks, I've got a busy day tomorrow," Edwyn replied, "Some of the kings soldiers are coming through town tomorrow, and we'll need some more weapons ready if they are willing to buy.
Edwyn was apprenticed to the local blacksmith. The work was hard, but the pay was good, especially now that he was supporting both himself and his mother.
He gave the bartender his empty bottle, and lounged back, relaxing now that the man had finally given up.

Alexiel simply shook his head. "I'd rather not get intoxicated, if I could avoid it." He then returned to surveying the tavern's many drunk patrons.

A large laugh comes from the drunken Lucifilo. He was a plump man from Cineron, who peddled across Grawood and the Northern Heartlands. He had arrived several days ago. Most of his wares were of high quallity, and while the prices would normally be to high for anyone of Grawood, his items were remarkable cheap. Edwyn himself bought a new shovel from the man.
"Have you ever gotten a chance to speak with that man?" Edwyn asked Aenhald.
"Oh yes, very interesting fellow. Says he's been to Elenrod forest, and that the trees their have become sentient. Some truth can be gained from his tales though. He's got some information about the happenings of the rest of Erenland.
"What about you?" he asked Lessien.

(OOC: Not much to do here. :t)

Alexiel merely surveying the tavern's many drunk patrons as he sat. Hopefully one of them would catch his gaze and waltz or stumble over, looking for a fight. Such a thing Alexiel would be happy to provide.

Edwyn walked over and joined the crowed. Lucifilo no longer talks of wild tales from Elenrod, and is now spreading stories about North Forest County.

"Ah yes. I rode into the town of Alsenn the other day, a small little settlement outside of Bradon. Apparently there art some tales of haunting in yon town. A poor fellow by the name of Herrick hath claimed to have seen these haunts in his own house. Now I told him 'twas just his house spirits playing tricks, but he insists that..."

The rest of the merchants words faded away in Edwyn's mind. Alsenn was a mining town, like Rustleburg, but it's vast tunnels produced bronze and iron. Before the Royal Guard arrive tomorrow, Edwyn was to ride into town and pick up some more metals to help replenish their stock of iron after the soldiers had gone.

Alexiel yawned, covering his mouth with his hand as to hide his fangs, listening in on the conversation near him. He at first thought that the apparitions could have truly been himself, but did not recall a town of such a name, so he then decided he was not involved with the haunting in the town. At least, not directly. Not bothering to pay a barkeep, he conjured a small mug with ridiculously strong alcohol within it. Not that the strength of the liquid mattered to the vampire, as he couldn't get drunk anyway. Yawning again and tossing back the mug, only for it to refill when he set it on the table, he waited, continuing to listen in.

The trader continued, "Now, as I'm sure you know, Ancestral Worship, in conjunction with the teachings of the True One is the norm in Alsenn, as it must be here. The Village Holy Man thinks that the spirit is that of a long past relative of the poor bloke, and that Herrick has somehow displeased him and must pay for his sins.

Edwyn had always been superstitious, as most people were in this part of Grawood. Stories of ghosts were not taken lightly, and traders knew better to weave lies of spirits here.  Just as he had finished his last thought, he noticed that Alexiel was showing at least some interest in the tale that Lucifilo was spinning. Something about the man seemed just as haunting as spirits, and since both had seemed to arrive in Grawood at the same time, Edwyn figured that their had to be a connection.

Summoning what courage he could find, he asked the stranger "Doth thou know anything about these  haunts?"

Alexiel blinked slightly as the man who had been trying to dispel his interests before now turned to him, again resisting a grin at the unique dialect spoken by most. "While I haven't been in a town of that name, I can tell you that if I had, I would probably have known about such a thing. In any case, I am not aware of the source nor purpose." His open blue eye stared unblinkingly into the other man's, suppressing a yawn at the same time.

Besides. Had the vampire been connected with those hauntings directly... Well, the likelihood of witnesses was low. If he had summoned a being somewhere else and it had found its way to the town, that was not entirely his problem in his eyes, through the morals and judgement of mortals stretched far from those of the Vampire.

The words of the stranger flowed though his mind. "I haven't been to Alsenn. If I had been to Alsenn, I would have known about the curse. But since I haven't, I don't know about it." Edwyn did not dare to hope for a straight answer from the man, but his statement was painstakingly obvious.

He dismissed the whole affair as children's folly. He had better things to worry about. Edwyn gathered his things, paid Lessien four copper pieces, and left the Grey Hound Tavern.
